Sunflower Fund National Bandana Day

The Sunflower Fund, a national non-profit organisation, is dedicated to augmenting and maintaining the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR). The Fund’s work aims to give all South Africans diagnosed with leukaemia and other life-threatening blood disorders a better chance of finding matching bone marrow stem cell donors in order for them to be treated and, hopefully, cured.

Wear your bandana on the 12th of October and be part of the Sunflower Fund’s national bandana day. Purchase your bandana for only R20 from Pick n Pay and Bp express stores to show your support towards the brave fight that these patients face daily.

Check out these links from the wonderful ladies at pretty 24-7!

http://pretty24-7.com/review/africology-hydrating-cleansing-lotion/

Body Butter

Luxurious, hydrating, fragrant and repairing, our body butter is rich in cocoa butter and shea. Both ingredients work to soften and protect while canola oil heals and repairs barriers while soothing inflammation. Our Body Butter promotes cell regeneration and blood circulation, which in turn rejuvenates troubled and aging skin, making it soft and supple.

Hydrating Cleansing Lotion

For dry, sensitive or combination skin
Our cleanser is deeply moisturising and protects the ph of the skin, preventing oil imbalance. Carefully chosen essential oils have a soothing and anti-inflammatory effect while high levels of vitamin C and E and bioflavonoids firm and hydrate the skin.

We always love what you have to say about our products!
Thanks! J

Shanti Maurice: Nira Spa’s New treatment Launches

Along with Africology, Nira Spa has launched two new signature treatments. These are both a real soul touching moving and if ever in the area are a definite must!

Devifacial:
The Mother Devi Facial is a sacred journey in which your spirit is transformed into a space of pure serenity. Re-connecting with your inner core, a divine space where all healing and completeness originates from. Our face is what we show the world, and when your inner centre is out of alignment, our skin will express our unease. Your therapists will create a bespoke product selection that is most suited to your skin type. With our actives showing visible results, your skin will love you for the sacred care received.

Sega Ritual:
Our Sega massage was consciously created to symbolically assist the guest in freeing the mind, honoring the body and to celebrate life to the fullest. A Sega massage is always performed on the beach, with bonfires. The sea sand symbolically is what helped to ground the slave, and the fire was an expression of the spirit always motivated to stay positive, to dream the dream of freedom. Organic sugar from our sugar cane is used to naturally exfoliate the skin- made by our chef in our own kitchen blended with a powerful Anti-Oxidant formula by Africology to assist the skin in its youthfulness, followed by a sensory celebration of the senses. Our massage is performed with deeply hydrating coconut butter, blended with pure frangipani flower extracts. After the treatment the guest is served rum-cocktail and is able to enjoy the energy of the beach sea and night sky!

Les Nouvelles Esthetiques & Spa : The Spa Humanitarian Award Nominations

Spa Recognition Awards 2011
An Industry Award, acknowledging individuals who have excelled in the spa industry.

“We focus a large amount on the actual spas, however there are a number of individuals, who go above the call of duty and through their work the entire industry benefits. Les Nouvelles Esthetiques South Africa, introduced the inaugural Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Recognition Awards in 2006 to recognize these phenomenal individuals and each year we look forward to acknowledging their  achievements.”  said Dr Nadine de Freitas (Managing Editor – Les Nouvelles Esthetiques SA).
The Spa Recognition Awards, reflects the Spa Industry’s opinion and acknowledge these people in their individual categories: The Spa Ambassador Award, The Spa Humanitarian Award, The Spa Visionary Award and NEW this year and finally The Spa Management Excellence Award.

We are very proud to announce that our very own Renchia Droganis is nominated for a second time. As she won this award in 2007, this is an indication of the unique approach and impact Renchia takes in the beauty sector. Her truly inspiring nature really leaves a mark on everyone she meets and can’t help but be contagious. Renchia started her career as a life coach and holistic healer for leading companies, and also worked together with state prosecutors to help empower victims to find the mental strength to testify in court. After she trained as a Reiki master and aromatherapist, she incorporated homemade, bespoke skincare products that contain essential oils in her therapies, which were a huge hit with her clients. When a spa approached her to make a body wrap, she took on the challenge and launched Africology, which has grown steadily since its beginnings in 2001. The Africology range is completely chemical-free and can be found in some of the most luxurious spas around the world. Renchia has got four grown-up children and all of them are involved in the business, which makes Africology a true family business.

Voting closes on Tuesday, the 5th of July at 17h00
Please kindly send your votes to stating "I vote for Renchia Droganis" to info@lesnouvelles.co.za in order for Renchia to be acknowledged in this years Les Nouvelles Spa Awards 2011.

Give Dad something he really wants....

June is the month in which we celebrate fatherhood, so why not spoil Dad with a complete Shaving kit from Africology. This Pack comes complete with a 200ml shave cream, a 100ml Body Scrub, 5ml Marula conditioning Oil, 5ml Hydrating cleansing gel, 5ml a moisturizer as well as a step-by-step guide which describes the perfect Africology shave.

Shaving cream
Taking the scrapes and cuts out of shaving, our deeply moisturising cream provides a smoother shave with shea butter and jojoba beads. Your skin is left feeling soft, protected and moisturised. Shea butter has natural spf of 7, providing further protection against the sun. Usually retails at R435.

Body Scrub
We blend walnut and marula shell powder to provide a gentle, chemical-free exfoliator. The scrub delivers sunflower oil, rich in linoleic acid, vitamins A, B complex, D and E, calcium, zinc, potassium, iron and phosphate into the skin. All of these contribute to the general well-being of the cell membrane. Aloe ferox extract and marula oil help to create a smooth, soft finish. Retails at R212

Marula Conditioning Body Oil
To create an oil this luxurious, we infused marula oil with rooibos and neroli to soften signs of aging through its anti-stress action. An all-over body serum that is rich in palmatic acid, sealing the skin off from free radical attack. 5ml sachet retails at R8

Hydrating Cleansing Gel
Designed to cleanse without drying the skin, this gel contains quillaja extract and soapwort, which are natural and mild cleansing and foaming agents. Reactive skin is usually the result of the mind seeking protection, hence increased oil production. By not stripping the skin of its natural oil, the gel cleanses and gently rebalances. Seaweed extract maintains skin health while smoothing and moisturising. The skin is firmed and stimulated. It can also be combined with our Cleansing Lotion to assist combination skin in balancing itself. 5ml Sachet retails at R7

Moisturiser
Perfect for a day cream and so versatile, this intensely hydrating cream is enriched with olive extracts that deliver our active ingredients into the skin. A cocktail of aloe ferox, marula oil, sweet almond, coconut and grapeseed blended into rich shea leaves the skin soothed, softened and protected. Shea provides natural sun protection factor and is combined with rose oil to fragrance the skin and balance the hormonal system. The cream is packed with natural antioxidants that protect and renew the cellular process. Free from artificial fragrances that can damage the DNA of the skin; this moisturiser is an essential part of your daily skincare routine. 5ml Sachet retails at R25.

This special is running for the month of June and retails at R460, Stocks are limited so make sure you hurry to our Store in Rosebank or email orders@africology-sa.com to avoid disappointment.

Get Dad something he would really enjoy….

Winter is definitely here!

Now that the cold has set it, don’t let it get you down. We suggest treating yourself, and what not a better way than an Africology Copper & Hot Stone Manicure & Pedicure.

This luxurious African pedicure begins by soaking the feet in an energy-balancing copper bath, followed by a warm massage of the legs, reducing water tension and improving circulation. Hot stones are used to massage the soles of the feet and the calf muscles, using heat to release product activity and to penetrate and relax the skin. An African potato Masque is applied to the feet to soften rough areas and lock moisture into the skin.

Copper is an essential element, and is seen throughout history and most civilizations as an effective aid to assist with inflammation, rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis and injury. Copper is naturally absorbed by the skin upon contact and competes with toxic minerals for absorption, thus reducing their harmful impact and making them more likely to be eliminated. It is a natural element found in the earth and is a very good conductor of energy, whether it is electrical, magnetic or vital force. At Africology we see this as a process of grounding an individual; as often in life we lose our way home or become overwhelmed, which emphasizes the need for us to reconnect with Mother Nature and find our sense of perspective that adds reason and depth to our outlook on life.

Go on… treat yourself!

Featured Spa of the Week: Westcliff Johannesburg Botanica Spa

As part of the Africology world we would like to showcase an Africology spa every week.  This week we decided to start in our very own Johannesburg Botanica Spa at the Westcliff. It has become almost a mirage situated on a hilltop in the leafy northern suburbs of Johannesburg and boasts numerous awards. This year alone it has been mentioned in the Conde Naste’s Traveler as one of the World’s Best 504 hotels; another mention being in the Travel+Lesuire as one of the World’s 500 Best Hotels. The fusion of Africology knowledge, products and expertise with the class and excellence of Botanica at the Westcliff make for a very good partnership and an overall luxurious experience. I recommend having an Africology Intonga Amasatchi Treatment as a little indulgence for the upcoming winter months.

Intonga Amasatchi Treatment
75 minutes - R800
(deep tissue massage)
Not suitable for pregnant women

Skilful movements are performed with the hands, and differently sized wooden sticks are used to stretch tight muscles and ease toxic overload from daily stress. Our hydrating body balms complete this body-renewing treatment.

Fancy a Cuppa?

Here at Africology we always bring our own creative flair into play when creating all of our products. We have blended the singular African potato with our rooibos tea to create our own uniquely African health blend. Rooibos has a naturally reddish-brown colour and is sometimes referred to as ‘red tea’. We love adding a little ginger and cinnamon to intensify and imbue it with that glowing, warm-body feeling. Rooibos contains high levels of antioxidants and is caffeine-free. Antioxidants work industriously to repair damage done to our cells.

Available in:
Specialty Blend, Ginger Blend, and Mint Blend

BRRRRRR, Winter Skin Tip!

As it is the turn in season, your skin has to adjust to this temperature change and it’s not only your face that needs a routine. This winter make sure to moisturize your hands, feet and lips regularly. Also you can never be too careful with our harsh sun UV (yes, even in winter) so getting a moisturizer with an added SPF is a great idea to keep your skin bright and beautiful!

Wintery Tip: Avoid using thin lotions, as lotions are absorbed quickly into the skin. By using creams they will form the protective barrier that is required for this winter.

 1. Africology Body Butter
For an all over body wellbeing
2. Africology Moisturiser
Keeps skin healthy and more elastic
3. Body Balm
For an intense hydrating treatment all over
the body, excellent where eczema is a problem.
4. Relaxing Massage oil
Use as an all over massage treatment,
a little in the bath is also a treat.
