Winter is definitely here!

Now that the cold has set it, don’t let it get you down. We suggest treating yourself, and what not a better way than an Africology Copper & Hot Stone Manicure & Pedicure.

This luxurious African pedicure begins by soaking the feet in an energy-balancing copper bath, followed by a warm massage of the legs, reducing water tension and improving circulation. Hot stones are used to massage the soles of the feet and the calf muscles, using heat to release product activity and to penetrate and relax the skin. An African potato Masque is applied to the feet to soften rough areas and lock moisture into the skin.

Copper is an essential element, and is seen throughout history and most civilizations as an effective aid to assist with inflammation, rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis and injury. Copper is naturally absorbed by the skin upon contact and competes with toxic minerals for absorption, thus reducing their harmful impact and making them more likely to be eliminated. It is a natural element found in the earth and is a very good conductor of energy, whether it is electrical, magnetic or vital force. At Africology we see this as a process of grounding an individual; as often in life we lose our way home or become overwhelmed, which emphasizes the need for us to reconnect with Mother Nature and find our sense of perspective that adds reason and depth to our outlook on life.

Go on… treat yourself!

Featured Spa of the Week: Westcliff Johannesburg Botanica Spa

As part of the Africology world we would like to showcase an Africology spa every week.  This week we decided to start in our very own Johannesburg Botanica Spa at the Westcliff. It has become almost a mirage situated on a hilltop in the leafy northern suburbs of Johannesburg and boasts numerous awards. This year alone it has been mentioned in the Conde Naste’s Traveler as one of the World’s Best 504 hotels; another mention being in the Travel+Lesuire as one of the World’s 500 Best Hotels. The fusion of Africology knowledge, products and expertise with the class and excellence of Botanica at the Westcliff make for a very good partnership and an overall luxurious experience. I recommend having an Africology Intonga Amasatchi Treatment as a little indulgence for the upcoming winter months.

Intonga Amasatchi Treatment
75 minutes - R800
(deep tissue massage)
Not suitable for pregnant women

Skilful movements are performed with the hands, and differently sized wooden sticks are used to stretch tight muscles and ease toxic overload from daily stress. Our hydrating body balms complete this body-renewing treatment.

Fancy a Cuppa?

Here at Africology we always bring our own creative flair into play when creating all of our products. We have blended the singular African potato with our rooibos tea to create our own uniquely African health blend. Rooibos has a naturally reddish-brown colour and is sometimes referred to as ‘red tea’. We love adding a little ginger and cinnamon to intensify and imbue it with that glowing, warm-body feeling. Rooibos contains high levels of antioxidants and is caffeine-free. Antioxidants work industriously to repair damage done to our cells.

Available in:
Specialty Blend, Ginger Blend, and Mint Blend

BRRRRRR, Winter Skin Tip!

As it is the turn in season, your skin has to adjust to this temperature change and it’s not only your face that needs a routine. This winter make sure to moisturize your hands, feet and lips regularly. Also you can never be too careful with our harsh sun UV (yes, even in winter) so getting a moisturizer with an added SPF is a great idea to keep your skin bright and beautiful!

Wintery Tip: Avoid using thin lotions, as lotions are absorbed quickly into the skin. By using creams they will form the protective barrier that is required for this winter.

 1. Africology Body Butter
For an all over body wellbeing
2. Africology Moisturiser
Keeps skin healthy and more elastic
3. Body Balm
For an intense hydrating treatment all over
the body, excellent where eczema is a problem.
4. Relaxing Massage oil
Use as an all over massage treatment,
a little in the bath is also a treat.
